The four acre Critter Country, originally known
as "Bear Country" opened at Disneyland in 1972.
When it first opened, it was the home of the popular Country
Bear Playhouse, but was renamed to Critter Country in 1989
when the bears were joined by various other animals in the
guise of Splash Mountain.
