The Travelodge Hotel Maingate East is located on the
Irlo Bronson Highway (HWY-192). It is directly opposite Kissimmee's
Old Town, and within easy walking distance of several restaurants
and convenience stores. It is also approximately 4 miles from
the Walt Disney World Resort, and just 2 miles from the main Interstate-4,
so for anyone that wants to stay off-site it is ideally located,
particularly if you've got a hire-car.
The Travelodge is one of the hotels that qualifies for
the "Walt Disney World Good Neighbour" award (though
I believe that in reality all this means is that the hotel has
to provide guest transportation to and from the theme parks, and
display advertising material in the foyer (though there are probably
other qualifying factors as well).
The 446 room guest accommodation is in two 8-story towers
that form the two legs of an "H" shape, with the first
floor central section housing the hotels food court styled restaurant,
convenience store, games room, and external pools (one swimming
pool, one paddling pool and a Jacuzzi / bubble pool). (Don't be
fooled by the hotel's advetising an Olympic standard pool, because
at around 20 - 25 metres in length it's certainly not up to Olympic
standard).
Each room is fully heated and air conditioned, and features
cable TV, a couple of double beds, a table and two chairs, an
Ironing board with Iron, and plenty of clothes storage. Just off
the main room is an En-Suite room with a bath with integral shower,
toilet and handbasin. The bathroom also features a hair dryer
and some basic tea/coffee making facilities.
Each floor also has a small room containing a snack
vending machine and an Ice dispenser.
NOTE: Although the hotel is some 4 miles from the Disney
parks, some of the rooms on the upper floors of both wings still
have a reasonably clear view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks display
at night, though for the best view within the hotel head for the
top floors of the hotel on the I-4 side.
