Davy Crockett Campground
Unlike the other Disney accommodation, the Davy Crockett
Campground (also known as the Davy Crockett Ranch) isn't a hotel,
but a campsite, located in a pleasant forested area about 15 minutes
drive away from the theme park itself.
The accommodation takes the form of 181 camp sites,
and 414 4-person or 6-person self contained and self catering
single storey bungalow style log cabins, with all the comforts
of an average house. (You need to make sure when booking that
you specify a 4 or 6 berth cabin.
Most of the log cabins feature a double bed and a
foldaway bed, with an additional set of twin bunk beds in the
6-person cabins. Inside each cabin is a coffee maker, microwave,
dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer, television, bath, telephone
etc, along with a fully equipped kitchen. Externally most feature
a picnic table and grill or barbecue.
The centrally located club house area features a
large heated indoor pool with slides and whirlpool, while outside
there are sports fields and tennis courts. Crocket's Tavern, the
campground's on-site restaurant is also located int he central
area, as is the Alamo Trading Post store.
Located nearby Davy's Farm provides pony treking,
while bicycle rentals are available for a modest daily fee, and
a returnable deposit, guests can also rent 4-seater bicycles and
electric golfing style carts as well if required.
One nice touch is that on checking into the Davy
Crockett Ranch most guests are provided with a 'welcome basket'
that contains a few essential food items, including coffee, tea,
milk, sugar, bread and a selection of biscuits and cookies.
