Autopia
At A Glance |
Giant scaled up version of
a Scaletrix track where guests ride in petrol engine powered
cars that run around a large slotted track. |
Named the "Grand Prix Raceway" at Walt
Disney World, Autopia is a car-ride along a slotted track, where
the rider has some control over the speed, and can "steer"
the car themselves, although ultimitely without interaction it
will still follow the track around, and it's certainly not possible
to steer the car off the track.
The theming is a ride in a "Car of the future",
through "Solaria", though this is pretty much the same
theming as when Florida's Grand Prix Raceway was first opened,
so if anything the attraction's more a case of adding to the classical
Magic Kingdom feel of the park.
The ride is sponsored by Mattel, and carries a minimum
height restriction of 52" (1.1m) and a minimum age restriction
of 1-year (accompanied of course).
